This blog addresses issues of teacher education, literacy education with a critical lens on teaching at the university. I work as a university professor at California State University, Dominguez Hills which is located in Carson on the southern part of Los Angeles County. Besides being a teacher of literacy, I am author of many publications in the area of literacy instruction (for more see https://scholar.google.com ). I was recently honored by the International Literacy Association as the co-author of 2 articles of the top 20 articles helpful to teachers in 2020 that the ILA published for the past 25 years. I taught for 17 years in elementary school grades 1-5, one summer in high school, and 27 years at 4 universities (Michigan State University as a graduate assistant, University of Houston, Fresno State University, and California State University Dominguez Hills). I started a school for the children of migrant workers in Muskegon Michigan and served as the director for 5 years. I hope you enjoy the blog. Please don’t hesitate to contact me at gdevoogd@csudh.edu
